1 dead, another seriously hurt after St. Pete crash causes road closures

he St. Petersburg Police Department says it’s investigating a deadly crash that led to both vehicles leaving the road and one driver ejected.

Officers say the crash happened just after 10 a.m. Wednesday at the intersection of 51st Street and 1st Avenue South between a silver Infinity sedan and a white Ford Ranger.

The driver of the Ford, who was ejected, died at the scene while the Infinity driver was taken to a local hospital and is said to be in serious condition but stable.

The northbound and southbound lanes in the area were closed for over five hours but have since reopened.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
