Cape Coral police arrested two men accused of robbing the Hurricane Arcade at gunpoint before leading officers on a chase, ending in a crash on Monday.
Mikael Alejandro Blanc Stewart, 24, and Jailyn Tyreke Thomas, 23, are facing armed robbery charges, according to documents.
Cape Coral police responded to the Hurricane Arcade around 10 a.m. on Monday for reports of an armed robbery.
Callers reported that a black male wearing a hoodie and mask entered the back of the arcade and robbed the establishment at gunpoint.
CCPD says the suspect grabbed a cash box from the employees before running away and entering the passenger side of an SUV.
Officers were able to find the SUV and initiated a traffic stop before the driver sped away at a high rate of speed.
Officers chased the car before it hit a pole near Andalusia Boulevard and Durden Parkway.
Both Stewart and Thomas were taken into custody. Investigations revealed that Stewart conspired to and did commit an armed robbery.
Thomas is facing one count of robbery with a firearm.
Stewart is facing one count of robber with a firearm and fleeing/eluding a law enforcement officer.
