Girl injured after being hit by pickup truck in Polk County, deputies searching for driver

A girl was hospitalized with a hurt arm and shoulder after she was hit by a pickup truck in Polk County Thursday morning, according to the sheriff’s office.

Deputies are now searching for the woman who hit her. She was reportedly driving a white pickup truck with ladders on top before hitting the girl on Ranchland Acres Road and Countryland Drive, the agency said.

The woman did stop to ask if the girl was alright after hitting her, according to deputies. The girl reportedly declined a 911 call.

At this time, the sheriff’s office is still looking for the driver, but is no longer classifying it as a hit-and-run.
