House fire results in dog’s death, nobody else home at time of incident

Firefighters responded to a Jupiter Farms home ablaze around 1:40 p.m. Tuesday, where they extinguished the fire in roughly an hour. However, a dog’s life was lost in the incident.

A 911 caller reported the incident, prompting the Palm Beach County Fire Rescue (PBCFR) response off 1576th Street North. Upon arrival, units witnessed “heavy” fire conditions with flames and thick smoke rolling from the entire porch area and entryway of the home, the department’s spokesman said.

An aggressive strategy was initiated; meanwhile, firefighters conducted a rapid search of the residence.

Unfortunately, the dog was already dead when removed from the home, according to the spokesman. Nobody else was inside or required medical transport.

Although the fire was deemed under control 20 minutes into firefighters’ efforts, the house suffered a partial roof collapse. By 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, the flames were out with the homeowner arriving back to their residence during the suppression efforts, the PBCFR spokesman said.

Fire investigators were at the scene to determine the cause of the incident as the Red Cross responded to also assist.
