Jacksonville 20-year-old killed in crash after driving into coned-off scene on First Coast Expressway: Florida Highway Patrol

A 20-year-old man from Jacksonville died in a crash on State Road 23, also known as First Coast Expressway, Thursday evening, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers said around 6:30 p.m., the 20-year-old was driving southbound in the outside lane of SR-23, approaching Mile Marker 34. Meanwhile, a pickup truck was parked in the outside lane of the road behind a coned-off accident scene, and another car was parked in front of it.

According to FHP, the man continued to drive through the coned-off accident scene and ended up crashing with the rear of the pickup truck.

That impact resulted in the pickup truck being pushed forward, causing it to crash with the rear of the third car parked in front.

The 20-year-old man died at the scene, FHP said.
