A major crash shut down all southbound lanes on State Road 9B at Racetrack Road Thursday evening. Traffic was at a complete standstill for miles.
As of 7:20 p.m., two lanes reopened.
The accident appears to have happened on State Road 9B near Cinemark Durbin Park.
Drivers report seeing a medical helicopter on scene.
St. Johns County Fire Rescue says the accident involved four cars. Five people were injured — one of them was taken by Life Flight and four were taken by ambulances.
