Man stable after being shot in northwest Miami-Dade

Miami-Dade police are investigating a shooting that occurred early Friday morning.

According to Detective Angel Rodriguez, officers responded to the area of Northwest 17th Avenue and 69th Street just before 3:30 a.m. after receiving reports about a person being shot in the area.

Rodriguez said officers arrived to find a man suffering from at least one gunshot wound.

Local 10 photojournalist Lani Yasuk-Carrier was told at the scene that the victim had been shot in the chest.

Rodriguez confirmed that the victim was transported by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center in stable condition.

Police did not immediately have a description of the shooter and a motive remains unclear.
