1 airlifted with life-threatening injuries after shooting in Tarpon Springs

Police are investigating after a reported shooting left one person seriously injured on Sunday.

According to the Tarpon Springs Police Department, officers responded to the 200 block of East Martin Luther King Jr. Drive regarding a person who had been shot.

Officers arrived and made contact with the victim, who was taken to a local trauma center by helicopter with life-threatening injuries.

TSPD said the other person involved, who is known to the victim, stayed on the scene and is cooperating with police. No charges have been filed as of this report.

Police believe this was an isolated incident and say there is no threat to the public.

The 200 block of MLK remained closed while the investigation was ongoing, but has since been reopened.
