A tragic fatal car accident in Jackson County resulted in two lives lost on Saturday.
According to a news release, at around 6:45 p.m a pickup truck was traveling westbound on Welcome Church Road. The pickup truck failed to negotiate a left curve, ran off the roadway, and entered the north grass shoulder.
Florida Highway Patrol officials said that while the pickup truck was on the north grass shoulder, its front portion collided with a tree. This redirected the pickup truck back into the westbound lane, as it yawed clockwise and overturned.
The truck reached a final rest within the westbound lane, overturned on its right side, facing northeast.
The truck then ignited and became engulfed in flames, officials wrote.
Troopers confirmed the occupants a 46-year-old man from Grand Ridge Florida and a 3-year-old child were declared deceased on the scene.
