One person is critical and two others are seriously injured following a crash Wednesday morning in Escambia County.
It happened around 8 a.m. at the intersection of N Davis Highway and Scenic Highway. Three vehicles were involved.
According to Florida Highway Patrol, a sedan driven by a 60-year-old Pensacola man was traveling north on the inside lane on N Davis Hwy., approaching the merge of Scenic Hwy.
A pickup truck driven by a 48-year-old Pensacola man was traveling south in the left turn lane on N Davis Hwy, approaching the merge of Scenic Hwy.
A SUV driven by a 63-year-old Pensacola woman was traveling south in the inside lane on N Davis Hwy., approaching the merge of Scenic Hwy.
FHP states the 60-year-old man failed to operate his sedan within the designated northbound lanes, entering wrong-way traffic and traveling across the concrete median in a northwestern direction. As a result, the front of his sedan collided with the front of the pickup truck.
The collision caused the pickup truck to enter the inside southbound lane. The front of the SUV then collided with the rear of the pickup truck.
The 60-year-old man in the sedan suffered critical injuries, while the other two drivers — a 48-year-old man and 63-year-old woman — suffered serious injuries.
