A 70-year-old man was killed and a 41-year-old man was hospitalized after two vehicles reportedly crashed on Burnt Store Road in Punta Gorda Friday afternoon.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a sedan was heading north in the right lane of Burnt Store Road, approaching the intersection of Notre Dame Boulevard.
At around 1:38 p.m., a vehicle traveling south on Burnt Store Road made a left a the intersection toward Notre Dame Boulevard Boulevard.
Troopers say the sedan crashed into the side of the vehicle. After the collision, the sedan reportedly flipped into a ditch. The driver was seriously injured.
The driver of the other vehicle was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene, FHP said.
FHP is investigating the crash, including the pre-crash speed and driving pattern of the sedan.
