1 dead, 1 seriously hurt after crash on SR-46 in Mims, FHP says

One person is dead and another person is seriously hurt after a crash in Mims.

The crash happened around 6:30 Tuesday morning at the intersection of State Road 46 and Morgan Alderman Road in Volusia County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol..Troopers said two cars were involved in the crash, including a 2026 Ford Explorer and a 2020 Mitsubishi Outlander.

FHP said the driver of the Ford Explorer, a 36-year-old man from Lake Mary, was not injured and stayed at the scene.

The driver of the Mitsubishi Outlander was pronounced dead at the scene. Additionally, a passenger in the Outlander was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

SR-46 is shut down between South Jungle Road and Hatbill Road as troopers investigate.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
