1 dead, 2 injured in shooting at Marathon gas station in Belle Glade

One person was killed and two were injured in a shooting at a Marathon gas station off SR 715 in Belle Glade Saturday afternoon, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.

It happened about a quarter mile from the Palm Beach State College Campus in Belle Glade.

The sheriff’s office said they believe it started with an altercation outside the gas station. Shots were fired shortly after and three people were hit.

When Palm Beach County Fire Rescue units arrived on the scene at around 12:15 p.m., all victims were found meeting trauma alert criteria and were transported to a Palm Beach County Trauma Center by trauma hawks.

PBSO investigators spent the evening interviewing people who live in the neighborhood behind the Marathon.

WPTV’s reporter Cassandra Garcia spoke to several of the residents. While no one was willing to speak on camera, they did tell her they were surprised to learn of the homicide and triple shooting because the neighborhood is typically quiet.

No identities have been released on the victims or a suspect and the motive remain unclear.

No arrests have been made. The sheriff’s office said it’s an ongoing investigation.
