1 dead after 2 vehicles collide nearly head-on in Spring Hill

One person is dead following a near head-on collision in Spring Hill on Friday night.

The Florida Highway Patrol said around 9:45 p.m., a 19-year-old Spring Hill man was traveling westbound on Northcliffe Boulevard, while a 61-year-old Spring Hill woman was traveling in the eastbound lanes.

For an unknown reason, the teen driver drifted across the roadway, just east of Merchant Avenue, and into the path of the other vehicle.

Troopers said the two vehicles crashed into each other nearly head-on, causing serious injuries to both drivers.

The passenger riding in the vehicle with the 61-year-old woman, only identified as a 35-year-old Spring Hill man, was also seriously hurt from the collision.

All three victims were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, where the passenger later died from his injuries.
