1 dead after car slams into Cape Coral home

The Cape Coral Police Department is investigating a deadly car crashing into a home located on Northeast 6th Place.

The incident was reported to police late Sunday evening, south of Pine Island Road near Gator Mikes.

Early reports of the scene detail the vehicle crashing into the home’s lanai, causing extensive damage to the property’s interior.

The Cape Coral Police Department confirmed that the driver of the vehicle was transported to a hospital for treatment, where they later succumbed to their injuries.

Yellow caution tape was placed throughout the scene’s perimeter while law enforcement conducted its investigation.

WINK News arrived on the scene, where reporter Camila Pereria spoke with the homeowners.

They confirmed being home at the time of the crash.

The scene is currently under investigation.
