One person was killed in a crash involving a vehicle and a bicyclist in Charlotte County Thursday night, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The Florida Highway Patrol responded to the scene on Midway BOulevard, between U.S.-41 and Albury Drive, around 6:37 p.m.
Troopers said a 30-year-old Port Charlotte woman was driving west on Midway Blvd.
At the same time, troopers said a 65-year-old Port Charlotte man was crossing the road before entering the direct path of the oncoming car.
FHP said the man was seriously injured after being struck. He was taken to the hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office said Midway Blvd southbound shut down between U.S.-41 and Albury Dr. Traffic was being diverted down Albury Dr.
FHP said this crash remains under investigation.
