1 dead after crash on I-75 northbound in Collier County

The Florida Highway Patrol says one person is dead after a truck struck a light pole on I-75 northbound near Golden Gate Parkway in Collier County.

On Monday, troopers responded to the Golden Gate Parkway northbound entrance ramp around 6:15 a.m.

FHP said a 30-year-old man from Naples was driving north on the northbound entrance ramp for I-75 with a 27-year-old passenger, also from Naples.

Troopers said the driver lost control of the car before entering the shoulder, striking a utility pole and flipping the car.

According to reports, the passenger was pronounced dead on the scene. The driver and two other passengers suffered minor injuries.

The identities of those involved have not been shared at this time.

FHP said this is an active investigation. You can count on NBC2 to provide updates as they are received.
