One person is dead after an e-bike crash in Charlotte County on Wednesday morning.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, troopers responded to the scene of an e-bike crash on Harbor Boulevard at Aaron Street in Port Charlotte shortly before 4 a.m.
An FHP trooper told Gulf Coast News that one bike was involved in the crash, and that the bicyclist hit a curb, crashed, and died.
FHP said that the e-bike was traveling southbound on the Harbor Boulevard east side sidewalk. The driver of the bike lost control and crashed into shrubbery and a lamp post.
The driver was thrown from the e-bike and was pronounced dead on the scene.
Harbor Boulevard North was blocked at the time of the crash, but has since reopened.
FHP said the incident remains under investigation.
