One person is dead after a motorcycle crash in Charlotte County on Tuesday.
According to the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a crash on North Tamiami Trail near Carousel Plaza at around 9:45 p.m.
Northbound Tamiami Trail and one lane of Southbound Tamiami Trail were closed for a period of time while deputies worked the crash.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the crash involved a vehicle and a motorcycle, and there was one confirmed fatality.
FHP said that a pickup truck made a left turn from a driveway, traveled across the northbound travel lanes, and onto southbound US 41.
A motorcycle was traveling south on US 41 and crashed into the rear of the pickup truck, FHP said.
The driver was thrown from the motorcycle and pronounced dead on the scene, FHP said.
FHP said the crash is still under investigation.
