One person has died Monday morning after a house fire in Escambia County.
Escambia County Emergency Communications received multiple calls about a residential structure fire in the 400 block of Winthrop Avenue at about 1:46 a.m.
Escambia County Fire Rescue responded and arrived to find heavy fire showing throughout the home, according to officials.
Officials say fire crews carried out aggressive firefighting and rescue efforts for a resident trapped inside.
One adult was pulled from the fire and pronounced dead at the scene, according to officials.
Escambia County EMS responded to provide medical care. LifeFlight was notified but later canceled because of the fatality.
The fire was brought under control, but crews remain on scene, according to officials.
Navy Fire assisted Escambia County Fire Rescue, and the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office also responded.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
No further details have been released.
