1 dead following head-on collision in Martin County

The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a deadly crash near Indiantown just before 1 a.m. on Friday.

According to FHP, a pickup truck operated by a 60-year-old man from Wilmington, Delaware was traveling northwest on State Road 710, also known as SW Warfield Boulevard. A semi tractor-trailer was traveling southeast on SR 710.

FHP’s report notes that the pickup truck entered the opposite lane of travel and into the path of the semi tractor-trailer, which caused a head-on collision.

FHP said the driver of the pickup truck was pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver of the tractor-trailer was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
