One person is dead and multiple people were injured after a vehicle pursuit ended in a crash at Vanderbilt Beach Road and Logan Boulevard on Monday afternoon in Collier County.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, five vehicles were involved in the crash.
FHP troopers said they responded around 1:46 p.m. and located a “Be On the Look Out” (BOLO) of a 2024 Kia sedan that fled from Collier County deputies on I-75.
The driver of the Kia was heading south on Logan Boulevard at high speeds while fleeing from FHP. FHP said the driver disregarded a red traffic signal at the intersection of Vanderbilt Beach Road and crashed with four other vehicles.
According to FHP, the Kia’s driver, a 25-year-old Miami man suffered critical injuries and was transported to an area hospital. Troopers said he had no driver’s license and had an active warrant for fleeing and eluding in Dade County.
The front seat passenger in the Kia, a 30-year-old Miami man, also suffered critical injuries and was transported to an area hospital.
FHP said there was a backseat passenger in the Kia, a 24-year-old Miami man, was pronounced dead at the hospital after suffering critical injuries.
According to the news release, the four other vehicles were damaged, and the occupants suffered minor injuries.
FHP said the crash remains under investigation.
