1 dead when fire breaks out at Daytona Beach home

One person was found dead after a fire broke out early Monday at a Daytona Beach home, according to fire officials.

Firefighters responded to the home around 12:40 a.m. in the 600 block of North Peninsula Drive.

According to the Daytona Beach Fire Department, firefighters were met with smoke and heavy fire at the two-story home.

When firefighters reached the second floor, “fire conditions worsened requiring additional resources.”

One person was found dead on the second floor during a search, the department said. There were no other reported injuries.

The department said “smoke alarms were not audible as crews arrived,” and the state fire marshal is investigating.

No other information was released.
