Lauderhill police are investigating a shooting that they said left a woman hospitalized and another detained Wednesday morning.
It happened near the 400 block of Northwest 33rd Avenue, just north of Broward Boulevard.
Police told Local 10′s Janine Stanwood that a woman was shot in front of a home in the area following an argument with another individual.
Officers arrived at the scene just before 11 a.m. and observed a woman suffering from a single gunshot wound.
Police confirmed the victim was transported to Broward Health Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
Sky 10 flew over the home, capturing footage of a woman running to the scene and embracing who appeared to be the victim’s family members outside. A woman was later seen in handcuffs in the back of a police car.
Detectives were also seen focusing on a white Honda that was parked in the area where the shooting occurred.
Authorities have not yet released information about the victim or the person detained, and a motive for the shooting remains unclear at this time.
No other details about the incident were immediately released.
Anyone with information on the case is urged to call the Lauderhill Police Department at 954-497-4700 or Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-8477.
