Victim found inside home on Madison Avenue.

One person was found dead early Monday after a duplex fire in Daytona Beach, according to fire officials.

The fire happened around 2:30 a.m. on Madison Avenue close to Ridgewood Avenue.

Daytona Beach police say they were on patrol in the area when they saw smoke and found the home fully engulfed.

According to Daytona Beach fire officials, the victim, only described as being a male, was found dead inside.

The fire spread to a structure next to it, according to officials.

“Heavy smoke, heavy flames blowing out the right side of the duplex,” said Lt. Antwan Lewis with the fire department.

A person in the other unit woke up, saw the flames and was able to get out, according to the Daytona Beach Fire Department.

The victim’s name and age have not been released. Right now police do not suspect foul play.
