1 hospitalized after car fire leads to shutdown on Turnpike SB in Hialeah Gardens

One person was injured Wednesday morning after a car fire led to all southbound lanes being closed on Florida’s Turnpike in Hialeah Gardens.

The fire was reported near Exit 35 to Okeechobee Road.

All southbound lanes were closed as of 8:30 a.m.

According to Miami-Dade Fire Rescue, multiple vehicles were possibly involved in an “incident” that led to the car fire.

First responders confirmed that the fire has since been extinguished.

One person was transported by ground to a local hospital.

No other details were immediately released.
