A fire ravaged a home on the corner of Oswego Street and Riverhead Avenue in Charlotte County Monday afternoon.

According to Charlotte County Public Safety, Charlotte County Fire & EMS was called to the home at approximately 3:24 p.m. The caller told officials they heard crackling and saw black smoke.

When firefighters arrived at the scene, they spotted heavy smoke coming from the home.

Charlotte County Public Safety said one person was taken to a local hospital, and two others were patient refusals.

The Charlotte County Fire Marshal determined the fire was accidental and caused by smoking.
