A shooting investigation is underway in the area of a Lowe’s Home Improvement store in Sarasota.

The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating a shooting that took place at 4020 Central Sarasota Parkway.

“Be mindful of a heavy law enforcement presence that may remain in the area,” SCSO said in a post on Facebook.

An SCSO flash report stated that the shooting happened after a domestic incident turned violent.

The suspect fled the scene but was found after a short search. The individual is now in custody.

The victim in the shooting was taken to Sarasota Memorial Hospital for treatment. No other people were injured.
