A driver had to be transported to the hospital after a rollover crash into a shed occurred in Lehigh Acres.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a 21-year-old driving a 2015 Mercedes crashed into a shed on Sunday on State Road 82 and Harcourt Avenue. The car then burst into flames.

The driver, who resides in Fort Myers, was transported to an area hospital with serious injuries. The homeowner of the property where the crash happened said he saw the driver get thrown from the car during the crash.

“As I’m coming around the curve, I see something combust and go into flames,” said Loretta Marc, “I had that shock where you just freeze. I just pulled over really fast. I was in shock.”

The residential shed and fence sustained substantial damage, and the home sustained minor damage.

Nearby homes did not catch fire and no one in the homes was injured.

The crash remains under investigation.
