1 injured, transported to hospital after shooting in Punta Gorda

One person was taken to the hospital after a shooting in Punta Gorda Tuesday evening.

The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office say they responded to a home on Wilson Drive for reports of a domestic incident.

According to reports, the suspect left before deputies arrived.

Around 5 p.m., deputies were called back to the residence for reports of shots fired in the home.

Deputies say they found a man in his 50’s who had a gunshot wound to the back.

Deputies believe the suspect got a gun from his car and shot the caller’s father.

The suspect was arrested on the scene, according to reports.

Deputies have not shared the identities of those involved at this time.
