1 killed, 1 critically injured in Marion County crash on US-27

One person was killed and another was critically injured Wednesday night in Marion County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash happened around 8:15 p.m. near NW 60th Street.

According to a crash report, an 81-year-old Ocala woman in an SUV tried to turn left onto NW 60th Avenue from US-27 in front of an oncoming sedan.

The front of the sedan, driven by a 43-year-old Gainesville man, collided with the SUV.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene. According to the crash report, he was not wearing a seat belt.

The woman was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

An investigation is ongoing.
