DESOTO COUNTY, Fla. —
A 35-year-old man from Indiantown, Florida, died in a two-vehicle crash early Tuesday morning in Arcadia.
The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) responded to the accident on State Road 70 near NE Cross Avenue at approximately 5:20 a.m.
According to troopers, the man was driving west on SR-70 with a 27-year-old woman from Miami, heading toward NE Cross Avenue. Meanwhile, a second vehicle carrying two men from Arcadia was traveling east on the same road.
FHP reported that the Indiantown man attempted to pass another vehicle and crossed into the opposite lane, where his car collided head-on with the oncoming vehicle at the intersection.
The Indiantown man was pronounced dead at the scene. The other three individuals involved sustained injuries and were transported to the hospital.
Authorities have not yet released the identities of those involved, and the crash remains under investigation.
