1 person dead, 1 hospitalized after stabbing in Lake Wales, police say

A stabbing in a Lake Wales neighborhood Thursday left one person dead and another injured, according to police.

The Lake Wales Police Department said officers received reports of a stabbing around 4:46 p.m. at a residence on West Sessoms Avenue.

Police arrived at the location and found two people with apparent stab wounds. One of the people was pronounced dead at the scene.

The second person was flown to a local hospital for treatment. As of Thursday evening, officials did not have any further information on the person’s condition.

Detectives were still working to determine the circumstances surrounding the stabbing Thursday but said there was no threat to the public.
