The Fellsmere Police Department is investigating a shooting that happened Tuesday afternoon.
The police department said it responded at 2:43 p.m. to the 1000 block of Lincoln Street. When officers arrived at the scene, they found an adult male victim suffering from gunshot wounds.
The victim was transported to HCA Lawnwood Medical Center in Fort Pierce. The police department noted residents are not in danger, but the 1000 block of Lincoln Street and the corner of Grant Avenue remains an active crime scene. Residents are asked to travel to State Street.
“This investigation is in progress as officers and sheriff’s deputies continue to work active leads to arrest the suspect or suspects. More information will be released as soon as possible,” said Fellsmere police Chief Keith M. Touchberry in a statement.
