An 11-year-old is accused of shooting and killing a relative at an Ocoee home they shared Friday morning.
Ocoee police responded to the home near Clarke and Mims roads just before 8 a.m. and found 55-year-old Sandra Pape King with a gunshot wound.
She was taken to Advent Health Apopka, where she died, police said.
Neighbors along Idaho Court in Ocoee said what happened is just upsetting.
“It’s heartbreaking for something to happen to somebody like that, kill somebody, somebody doing them like that,” said Gerald Ingram, a neighbor.
Another neighbor told WESH 2 they heard screaming and saw a 55-year-old woman shot on the ground in the driveway.
“It’s really sad,” a neighbor said.
What’s even more disturbing is that investigators say an 11-year-old relative who lived with her had shot her.
“He seemed like any other child, you know. You see, he had a little tantrum here and there. I figure that was normal for a kid his age, you know. I have two daughters his age, so I didn’t think nothing of it,” neighbor Jackson Genao said.
Sandra King was taken to Advent Health in Apopka, where police
say she died from her injuries.
Crime Scene Investigators hauled out bags of evidence.
A WESH 2 reporter on the scene saw a neighbor take a pet from the home’s yard.
Ocoee Police say the 11-year-old is in custody.
It’s unclear what led to the shooting and what charges the child may face.
