A 12-year-old boy died in an accidental shooting at a St. Petersburg apartment complex Monday evening, according to police.
The shooting happened at about 6:30 p.m. at the James Park Apartments along 3rd Avenue North.
J D. N, 12, was found with a gunshot wound and was taken to Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital where he later died, according to police.
Detectives are working to determine how the child obtained the gun.
