15-year-old girl shot, killed during robbery in Cape Coral, shooter on the loose

A 15-year-old girl died after a shooting in Cape Coral Sunday night, and the suspect(s) remain on the loose.

According to the Cape Coral Police Department, the shooting happened at SE 20th Street and SE 16th Place just before 10 p.m.

Kayla Rincon-Miller was shot and taken to the hospital, where she later died.

CCPD said Rincon-Miller and two other girls had just seen a movie at the Coralwood 10 movie theater and were walking to a McDonald’s at 1715 Del Prado Blvd. South.

According to CCPD, a car then pulled up, blinding the girls with their lights and the suspect(s) attempted to rob them. One of the girls told CCPD that someone got out of the car and shot Rincon-Miller in the chest.

The vehicle the shooter was in then sped off from the scene.

Rincon-Miller was taken to a local hospital, where she died from her injuries.

Detectives say they are investigating the incident as a homicide and working on identifying the suspect(s) in this shooting.
