A 16-year-old boy was killed in a Manatee County crash where he was the passenger on a motorcycle.
The Florida Highway Patrol said this happened Monday morning when the teen was riding with a 17-year-old motorcyclist who ran a red light at an intersection on State Road 70 and Caruso Road.
The motorcycle collided with a Chevy Sedan who was turning at a green light, troopers said
The 16-year-old died at the scene, while the 17-year-old was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
The driver of the Chevy, a 52-year-old woman, received minor injuries.
The FHP Traffic Homicide Unit is investigating the crash.
