16-Year-Old Killed Near Palma Sola Causeway

Bradenton Police and The Manatee Homicide Task Force continue to investigate the fatal shooting of a teenager near the Palma Sola Causeway Saturday morning.

Investigators said they were initially called to the eight thousand block of Manatee Avenue West after receiving reports of gunshots.

When police arrived, they said they discovered the body of 16-year-old Martavious Carter who’d been fatally shot.

Investigators think Carter was picked up in Manatee County earlier Friday evening, then driven to a secluded area near the Causeway where he was murdered.

The Causeway, along with the Manatee Bridge were closed for several hours during the investigation.

“It’s shocking, this is just such a nice and quiet area,” said Josh Dancy, who visited The Palma Sola Causeway Saturday with his family.

Detectives believe the case to be an isolated incident.
