16-year-old seriously injured in Lehigh Acres hit-and-run crash, deputies say

A 16-year-old was seriously injured in a hit-and-run crash in Lehigh Acres, according to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office.

The crash occurred early Sunday morning at Parkdale Boulevard and Homestead Road. LCSO says the vehicles involved were an ATV and black Chevy Cruze. The 16-year-old injured in the crash was taken to the hospital.

G, a Fort Myers resident, described the frequent speeding in the area.

“We ride motorcycles all the time and there’s cars speeding all the time around here. And it’s really bad, especially in this area around here,” G said.

G and his brother A said drivers need to take extra precautions on Lehigh roads due to the prevalence of speeding.

“It’s just all the time. You see it all the time. You hear all the time. And there’s always that happening. You can see people sometimes going off the road doing such stuff,” G said.

A, who is also 16, noted the poor visibility at night in the area.

“And then with lights there’s not much. And it’s pretty dark out here,” he said.

G expressed disbelief at the driver’s actions.

“Yeah, man, you sick dog. I, I don’t have words for that, honestly, because I’m just in shock because I have a little brother, 16 years old. I can’t imagine that happening to me,” he said.

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office said they are investigating the crash and searching for the driver. Authorities encourage anyone with information to contact them or Crime Stoppers.
