17-year-old Pensacola boy critically injured in hit-and-run crash in Escambia County

A 17-year-old boy is critically injured and a 21-year-old man is arrested after ahit-and-run crash in Escambia County Sunday night, according to FHP.

Jose Selvin Lopez-Ayala is charged with:

  • DUI – Serious Bodily Injury
  • No Drivers License – Serious Bodily Injury
  • Hit-and-Run – Serious Bodily Injury

He also has a hold for ICE.

The crash happened on Massachusetts Avenue at Embers Landing around 9:30 p.m., according to FHP.

Troopers say it was a head-on collision between Lopez-Ayala’s pickup truck and a 17-year-old Pensacola boy driving a car.

Lopez-Ayala ran off following the crash, but was later found seriously injured nearby, according to FHP.

Troopers say the driver of the carwas transported to Baptist Hospital with critical injuries.

No further details were released.

Lopez-Ayala is being held in Escambia County Jail on$15,000 bond.
