18-year-old motorcyclist dies after hitting deer, being struck by car in Flagler County: Florida Highway Patrol

An 18-year-old motorcyclist from Palm Coast died on Monday night after hitting a deer and then being struck by a car on State Road 100 in Flagler County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

FHP said the crash happened around 9:39 p.m. just west of the Briarwood Drive intersection.

Troopers said a deer ran into the path of the motorcyclist, and his front tire struck the deer. The rider was then thrown from his motorcycle and fell into the left lane.

The deer was thrown off to the right into a ditch on the right grass shoulder, FHP said.

According to FHP, moments later, a car traveling in the left lane with four passengers struck the rider. The driver and passengers were unaware that the motorcyclist was lying on the road.

The 18-year-old was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, the FHP report says.
