A 19-year-old man riding a motorcycle died Wednesday night after a crash with a tractor-trailer at State Road 13 and Otoes Place in St. Johns County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers said the motorcyclist and the semi were both headed north on SR 13, south of Otoes Place, when the tractor-trailer made a right turn from the left lane into a shopping plaza parking lot.

The motorcyclist, who was in the right lane, hit the side of the semi as it made the turn and was thrown from the bike, the report said.

According to the report, the motorcyclist, who was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, died from his injuries at the hospital.

The 61-year-old man driving the tractor-trailer and his 33-year-old passenger were not hurt. Both men were wearing seat belts, the report shows.
