2 arrested after fleeing traffic stop at 130 mph: Florida Highway Patrol

Two people were arrested after a car chase in Tampa ended with a Trooper injured, the Florida Highway Patrol announced.

A trooper attempted to stop a white BMW sedan, but the driver, RR began driving erratically on I-4 in an attempt to flee and elude the trooper.

R continued to drive erratically at speeds of 130 mph, FHP said.

The trooper was able to stop R by intentionally placing his vehicle in the way of R’s.

According to FHP, R then fled on foot.

The Tampa Police Department aviation unit then observed R discard a firearm over a wall in an attempt to conceal it.

After a quick pursuit, R was arrested.

One trooper suffered minor injuries and was transported to the hospital.

Troopers said after a computer check, R’s criminal history revealed that he had multiple felonies.

The right front passenger, M M-S was also arrested after a search revealed she had an active warrant.
