2 at large after driver stabbed in Little Havana, cops say

A man providing unofficial transportation services was stabbed Tuesday after an altercation with two passengers in Miami’s Little Havana neighborhood, according to police.

Miami police officers responded to an emergency call around 12:15 p.m. near the 600 block of Southwest 10th Avenue.

Police said the incident began when the driver picked up a male and female in Kendall and later stopped in Little Havana to visit a family member, during which the passengers started arguing.

When the driver returned and witnessed the dispute, authorities said he told them to leave the vehicle.

Shortly after, investigators said the passengers refused, leading to a scuffle between the driver and the male passenger.

At that point, the female passenger intervened and sliced the driver on the arm with a sharp object, authorities said.

They said the two passengers fled eastbound on foot after the altercation. The driver sustained a laceration on his arm and was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital for treatment, according to investigators.

Miami police are continuing their investigation and have been in contact with the driver to gather more details. They said the suspects remain at large.

A Local 10 News crew was at the scene where police were focusing on a SUV with a license plate reading NWYM80, believed to be connected to the incident.

Authorities are urging anyone with information about the case to contact the MPD at 305-603-6640 or Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477.
