CSX said that two contractors were injured Friday at its Jacksonville Intermodal Yard when a crane collapsed and both were taken to the hospital.
The Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department told News4JAX it transported two adults with critical injuries.
CSX sent a statement to News4JAX about the accident.
At approximately 10:55 a.m. on Friday, July 24, two contractors were injured in an industrial incident at CSX’s Jacksonville Intermodal Yard. The contractors were dismantling cranes when one of the cranes collapsed. Both were transported to a local hospital with unknown injuries.
CSX appreciates the swift response of the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and Jacksonville Fire Department and is supporting their response on scene. The cause of the incident is under investigation – CSX Spokesperson
CSX sent a follow-up statement saying that the two injured were subcontractors working for the scrapping company performing the crane dismantling work.
The train yard is located at 5902 Sportsman Club Road.
