2 dead after crash on I-75 in Tampa

2 people are dead after a fatal crash on Interstate-75 Friday morning, the Florida Highway Patrol announced.

FHP responded to a crash in the southbound lanes of I-75 near Morris Bridge Road around 4:56 a.m.

A GMC Sierra was traveling in the southbound lanes of I-75 as well as a construction street-sweeper, operated by a 46-year-old Brandon man, who was traveling in the outside lane ahead of the GMC.

According to FHP, near Fletcher Avenue, the GMC overtook and collided with the rear of the street-sweeper.

The Brandon man suffered minor injuries.

The driver of the GMC was identified as a 61-year-old Spring Hill man. The passenger was identified as a 47-year-old New Port Richey woman.
