Two people were killed Monday morning in a two-vehicle crash on Colonial Drive in Orlando, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
The double-fatal wreck happened on Colonial Drive at Hiawassee Road.
According to an FHP crash report, a 2015 Jeep Compass was traveling west in a left turn-lane when a 53-year-old Orlando man attempted to make a left turn to enter a parking lot. The vehicle entered the direct path of an oncoming 2013 Nissan Maxima, which was traveling east in the outside lane, the FHP said.
Troopers said the driver of the Jeep was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
A passenger in the Jeep, a 51-year-old Orlando woman, was pronounced dead at the scene, the FHP said.
The driver of the Nissan, a 21-year-old Ocoee man, was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to troopers.
Colonial Drive was blocked in both directions after the crash.
The crash remains under investigation.
