2 drivers killed in crash that shut down U.S. 1 in both directions in Cutler Bay

Two drivers were killed in a crash early Friday that shut down lanes on U.S. 1 in both directions.

The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office said it responded at around midnight to the area of Caribbean Boulevard in Cutler Bay regarding a traffic crash.

Deputies saw two vehicles involved. Fire rescue pronounced the two drivers, a man and a woman, deceased at the scene. Their names were not immediately provided.

All lanes of U.S. 1 were closed from Southwest 112th Avenue to Southwest 200 Street/Caribbean Boulevard.

Drivers are advised to use Quail Roost Drive as an alternate route.

MDSO traffic homicide detectives assumed the investigation.
