Two people were hospitalized after a Navy helicopter “hard landing” in Santa Rosa County Monday afternoon.
It happened around 2 p.m. at NAS Whiting Field’s Navy Outlying Landing Field (NOLF) Santa Rosa near Milton.
“Initial reports from the scene indicate that the helicopter experienced a mishap on one of the field’s helicopter pads while landing,” NAS Whiting Field says in a release. “The Helicopter Training Squadron EIGHTEEN instructor pilot and student aviator were evaluated by EMS personnel and were transported to a local hospital for further evaluation.”
Avalon Fire, Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office and Navy Police all responded to the scene.
No further details have been released.
